No. 1 - 9/12/06

It's been 33 long months since the Southern California Caravan Organizing Team has sent out a Newsletter.

If you didn't read the subject field, it's time to start thinking about a National Corvette Caravan, again.

At the C5 Birthday Bash, back in April, the National Corvette Museum announced that the next National Caravan will take place the week before the NCM's Labor Day event in 2009, so mark your calendars for 8/29/09 to 9/6/09.

The '09 Caravan National Chair, Kathie Lin Summers announced on 9 Sept. that she appointed Hib Halverson of West Covina as Captain of the Southern California Section of the 2009 National Corvette Caravan. Halverson served as Co-Captain of the 2003 Caravan. "Capt." Halverson moved quickly to take the initial steps in setting up the SoCalCar09 Organizing Team by naming Sherry Maples to the Team. "Commander" Maples participated in the 03 event and served as a lead car driver during part of the event. Also, appointed to the Team is Ron Cohen. "Commander" Cohen, owns Gorilla Travel, and will serve as, among other things, the SoCalCar's travel consultant. Additional appointments to the Organizing Team's Leadership Group will be made soon.

The main reason for this e-Newsletter is to let you know we're back in business and beginning work on the very first of the tasks necessary to organize the Southern California Section of 2009 Caravan.

Another reason for this email is to check the validity of the email address list we have left over from the 2003 event.

Once we get our 2009 mailing list address list up to date, we're going to send out an "09 Caravan Survey" which will ask the 2003 Caravanners some questions about that trip and what they'd like to see in the 09 event.
