>>The Stock Market Falls but the Caravan Soars<<
Captain Linda Walker's Central Texas (CenTX) Section is the newest contingent of National Corvette
Caravaners to join the 2009 Caravan's so-called "Southwest Group." In a joint announcement
last Friday, Captain Walker (Central Texas), Captain Tuna Dobbins (Texas Panhandle/Oklahoma), Captain
Jan Marshall (Arkansas/West Tennessee) and Captain Hib Halverson (Southern California/Southern Nevada)
revealed that CenTX will join the other three Caravan Sections in Oklahoma City and be with the
Group for the final two days of the trip.
"This may make our Caravan 10-15% larger on arrival in OKC the night of the 31st and the more
caravaners, the merrier," the SoCA/NV Caravan Captain told the eNews. "Our room booking team
leader, 'Commander' Ron Cohen, has assured we four Captains that he has enough hotel space booked in
Oklahoma City that night and for the following night in Little Rock, Arkansas for the additional crowd.
It's possible, with the CenTX joining us, on the last day of the trip, we could have 750 cars. How cool
is that?!"

>>Tire Raffle II<<
SoCal/SoNev Caravaner, Paul Benthuys of Long Beach, is the winner of our second fund raising raffle
for the chance to buy a set of Goodyear tires for $750. "I'd like to thank Paul for his support of
the Caravan by entering one of the fund raising raffles we hold in conjunction with one of our sponsors,
Goodyear," Sherry Maples of the SCSN Organizing Team told the eNews.
Tire Raffle III will be held sometime in November.
Each raffle is for a chance to buy a set of any four Goodyear passenger car or light truck tires for
$750.00. When we announce the start of each raffle, those Caravaners interested in entering it should
email their name to "Commander" Sherry Maples at
caravan2009@cox.net. When the raffle ends, one name will be
drawn and that person gets the opportunity to buy the tires for $750.00. Once we receive the winner's
check, we return to that person a certificate redeemable at any Goodyear dealer for the tires.
All proceeds from these Goodyear raffles go into the SoCal/SoNev Caravan Organizing Team's Operating
Fund. After the Caravan, any money left over will be donated to the National Corvette Museum.
>>SCSN Section Continues to Grow<<
Sherry Maples, the SCSN Organizing Team's Chief Financial Officer, tells the eNews that the last
registration data received from the National Corvette Museum on 10/6, shows the Southern
California/Southern Nevada Section has 292 Caravaners and 162 cars entered.

Going on the Caravan?
Don't go braless!
Even new cars with less than 1,000 miles have paint blemishes from normal driving. Imagine what a
cross-country trip will do to YOUR paint.
The solution? A "Clear Bra".
It functions like a traditional auto bra but is far more durable and cannot be seen. It will NOT
scratch your Corvette's finish like most "strap-on" auto bras. This 3M Paint and Headlight
Protection lasts for the life of your Vette. SCSN Capt. Hib Halverson used a 3M Clear Bra on the 2003
National Corvette Caravan and endorses it as the best way to avoid damage to the front of your car.
