>>>TOP STORY<<<
>>SoCal/SoNev Section goes past 200<<
(Irvine, CA) "Commander" Sherry Maples, the Southern California/Southern Nevada Caravan
Section's "CFO" tells the SCSN eNews that on 3 March, the Section's the number of
registrations surpassed 200 cars, currently standing a 205. That's 25 cars more than the Caravan had
leaving Fontana in 2003. In those 205 cars will be 164 couples and 41 singles or a total of 369
persons.
On hearing the news from Ms. Maples, the eNews contacted SCSN Section Captain Hib Halverson for
comment. Capt. Halverson said, "This shows that in-spite of the worst economy in 60 years, people
still love their Vettes and want to caravan to Bowling Green. I still think we're going to hit 250 cars
on Departure Day."

>>Tire Raffle V Begins<<
The fifth of our Goodyear Tire raffles starts today and lasts until 4 March. By now, you guys should
all know the drill.
Each raffle raises money for the Caravan Organizing Team. The money will be used to fund preruns,
purchase equipment used to operate the Caravan and to cover some of the cost of staging social events.
As with all our Section's funds, anything left over after the Caravan is over shall be donated to the
National Corvette Museum.
Each raffle is for four of any Goodyear tire which fits Corvettes, other passenger cars or light
trucks. The winner of each raffle gets the opportunity to buy that set of tires for $750.00. You can see
the various tires available at http://www.goodyeartires.com/. Getting four tires for a Vette for 750
represents a great deal and you can check prices at the Tire Rack web site.
To enter the raffle, you must be registered with the Southern California/Southern Nevada Section of
the 2009 National Corvette Caravan. Between today and 4 April, send an email to &Commander" Sherry
Maples at caravan2009@cox.net and request entry to the raffle.
Your name will be entered. When the raffle ends two weeks later, Ms. Maples will draw a
name/registration number as the winner along with some alternates. The winner will be offered a set of
tires for $750.00. Once the winner's check is received, he/she will get, by return mail, a certificate
redeemable at any Goodyear Tire dealer for the tires.
The SoCal/SoNev organizing team is grateful to Goodyear which donated the tire certificates. Goodyear
has been a major sponsor of the SoCal/So Nev Caravan Section for both the 2009 and 2003 events.
>>National Corvette Museum Labor Day Celebration<<
We covered the Museum's extension of the Labor Day event into Sunday in the last issue of the eNews.
It's come to our attention that a lot of Caravaners going with the SoCA/SoNV, TXPan/OK, CenTX and
AR/W-TN Sections may have only booked rooms up to Saturday night. We suggest that you review your room
bookings and, if you plan to participate in some of the Sunday events listed on the Museum's Labor Day
events web page (
http://www.corvettemuseum.com/registration/celebration/agenda.shtml
) you might want to extend your stay by one night. Those wanting to add nights should contact
"Commander" Ron Cohen at Gorilla Travel by emailing
gorillatravel@aol.com
>>OK. What about the Trip Home?<<
After the 2003 event, some SoCal/SoNev Caravaners got together and caravaned back home via a
different route. "Commander" Ron Cohen, our hotel booking expert, is planning a similar return
caravan for after the Labor Day Celebration this year. Initially, he started planning this for his club,
Red Line Corvettes, but the plan quickly snowballed to include all Caravaners. Ron is currently booking
hotels for his "After-the-Caravan Caravan". He tells the eNews, "We'll leave on Sunday
morning. We'll travel through Missouri and stay in Kansas City on Sunday night. Monday night, we stay
near the Kansas/Colorado border. Tuesday, we stay in Aspen Colorado. Wednesday and Thursday we go
through Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks in Utah and the drive through both is spectacular. We
arrive home either Friday or Saturday. I welcome all Caravaners who want to join us and I'll be happy to
book them into our hotels. Anyone wanting to sign-up for "Commander" Cohen's After-the-Caravan
Caravan should contact him at gorillatravel@aol.com
So there...now you have two different choices for Sunday: you can take in an extra day of activities
at the National Corvette Museum or you can go with Ron Cohen's After-the-Caravan Caravan.

Going on the Caravan?
Don't go braless!
Even new cars with less than 1,000 miles have paint blemishes from normal driving. Imagine what a
cross-country trip will do to YOUR paint.
The solution? A "Clear Bra".
It functions like a traditional auto bra but is far more durable and cannot be seen. It will NOT
scratch your Corvette's finish like most "strap-on" auto bras. This 3M Paint and Headlight
Protection lasts for the life of your Vette. SCSN Capt. Hib Halverson used a 3M Clear Bra on the 2003
National Corvette Caravan and endorses it as the best way to avoid damage to the front of your car.
