>>RED LINE OIL IS SOCAL/SONEV'S NEWEST SPONSOR<<

Today, Red Line Synthetic Oil Corporation President, Tim Kerrigan, and Hib Halverson, Captain of the Southern California/Southern Nevada Section of the 2009 Corvette Caravan announced a sponsorship agreement which will have every Caravaner registered for the SoCal/SoNev Section getting a free, Red Line/SCSN Section T-shirt. The T-shirt is light gray and will carry Red Line's famed, red oval logo on the back and the distinctive SoCal/SoNev Caravan logo on the front.

The Benicia, California company produces a full line of premium synthetic lubricants for automotive use which are distributed world wide. "I've known Tim Kerrigan, Red Line's President for nearly 20 years," Halverson told the eNews. "I've used Red Line Oil in all my Corvettes since 1990. Red Line products were in the engine, cooling system, power steering, transmission and rear axle of the Lead Car for the 2003 SoCal Caravan and we'll use Red Line in the Lead Car for the 09 trip. Considering the hot weather we'll experience going across the desert in the middle of summer, the extra protection offered by Red Line's ester-based synthetic lubricants, its power steering fluid and, especially, its Water Wetter coolant additive will be darn good to have."

"I'm pumped that Tim and the Red Line guys decided to step-up their involvement with this unique T-shirt. No one but Caravaners registered for our Section will get these shirts. If we have any left, after the event, they'll be sold only to Caravaners who went on the trip with the Southern California/Southern Nevada Section."

The Red Line/SCSN shirts will be given out during the SoCal/SoNev "Departure Night Soiree" on Friday at the Ontario Marriott before the Caravan's Saturday departure from Auto Club Speedway in Fontana.

The SoCal/SoNev Caravan Organizing Team would like to thank Tim Kerrigan, Red Line Synthetic Oil Corporation and all the businesses and individuals who are sponsoring the SCSN Section of the 2009 National Corvette Caravan.

&>>eNews hits 30<<

This marks the 30th edition of the electronic Newsletter of the SoCal/SoNev Section 2009 Corvette Caravan. Our Editor, the secretive U.B. Sherman, said, "I can't believe Halverson and the rest of the Organizing Team have put up with me this long. But, since the event is only a couple months away, I'm thinking about going on strike for more pay."

[Capt. says: Yeah...a strike...only in your dreams, dude.]

>>TWO MONTHS AND CHANGE UNTIL CARAVAN<<

Our departure from Auto Club Speedway is a little more than two months away and SoCal/SoNev entries stand at 220 cars. We're already 22% up on the 2003 SoCal Caravan and within range of the 250-car goal the SCSN Organizing Team set for 2009.

If you have Corvette friends who are thinking about Caravan but have not yet registered, tell 'em now's the time to sign up. Registration ends on 31 July. Rooms in a couple of our stops are getting limited. For room booking information see eNews #26 at http://www.corvette caravan.com/ca-southern/socal-enews-26.shtml

>>The SCSN ORGANIZING TEAM PRESENTS: DEPARTURE NIGHT SOIREE<<

Departure Night events are nearly universal among the Sections of the National Corvette Caravan. The various Organizing Teams and Caravan Committees have these events 1) as a way to kick-off the trip, 2) to distribute Route Books, apparel and other freebies, 3) provide a venue for Caravaners to meet-and-greet each other and 4) for Caravan leadership to make announcements about late-breaking route changes, sponsorship introductions and other news.

Once, again, the SoCal/SoNev Departure Night Event is presented by the Pomona Valley Corvette Association and produced by Caravan "Lieutenant" Elora Stidham. If you were on the 2003 trip, you remember Elora's party the night before. Be confident that the '09 edition will be even better.

The question which has been bouncing around the Caravan community for the last couple of week is: who will lead the group out of Fontana? SCSN Section Captain Halverson has kept that a closely-guarded secret by saying no more than, "Well...it ain't gonna be me, this time. On Friday night, I'll tell ya who's driving the Lead Car out of the Auto Club Speedway on Saturday Morning."

There are some freebies which will be given out only at the Friday night event. First is the famed SoCal/SoNev "Route Book". In 2003, not only was this your guidebook for the five day drive, the book, produced by retired Caravan Captain, Paul Mariano, became a collector's item after the Caravan as it was one of the best Route Books in the country. For 2009, the SCSN "Route Book Project", under the leadership of "Commander" Tony Megowan is outdoing themselves. This week, the eNews staff got a sneak-peak some of the work Tony's crew is doing and there's little doubt in our minds--this will be a landmark in Caravan books. The Route Book, presented by California Delivery Service, is 76 pages, full-color and covers the entire event from Fontana to Bowling Green. It's filled with instructions, maps and articles of interest to Caravaners. Route Books will not be available at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday morning.

Additionally, Caravaner registered for the Southern California/Southern Nevada Section and in attendance on Friday night will get the Red Line Oil/SCSN T-shirt. discussed above.

We'll have door prices, raffles and some other surprises, too.

We hope everyone makes the PVCA's Departure Night Soiree

Going on the Caravan?
Don't go braless!

Even new cars with less than 1,000 miles have paint blemishes from normal driving. Imagine what a cross-country trip will do to YOUR paint.

The solution? A "Clear Bra".

It functions like a traditional auto bra but is far more durable and cannot be seen. It will NOT scratch your Corvette's finish like most "strap-on" auto bras. This 3M Paint and Headlight Protection lasts for the life of your Vette. SCSN Capt. Hib Halverson used a 3M Clear Bra on the 2003 National Corvette Caravan and endorses it as the best way to avoid damage to the front of your car.

Professional installations by the 3M factory-trained Installer in California most experienced with Corvettes: Envisage Design Labs. Call (310) 613-4691 or email Envisage at: envisagedesignlabs@yahoo.com
