>>GOODYEAR BANQUET TICKET SALES CLOSING<<

The ticket sale for the Goodyear Third Night Banquet has been extended a day and ends this Saturday.

No tickets will be sold at the door. If you don't have an advanced ticket, you're eating at Mickey-D's which won't be anywhere near as tasty as our Mexican-style buffet featuring enchiladas and fajitas.

Tickets for the Banquet, which is subsidized by a Goodyear sponsorship, must be purchased in advance by mail. The cost is fifteen dollars per person. Dinner attendees will receive a wrist band upon hotel registration in Oklahoma City which will be required for entry.

Please, make your checks to "OK Caravan 2009" and mail them to Susan Dobbins, OK/TXPan Section, 1010 N. Savannah Terrace, Mustang OK 73064. If you haven't mailed your check, do it today. Checks must be received by August 22nd.

>>NIGHT TWO IN TUCUMCARI<<

After two days on the road, we'll be ready to party and that we will in Tucumcari. At the Tucumcari Convention Center on Sunday night, 30 August, the SoCal/SoNev Organizing Team invites Caravaners to a dinner and dance. The cash bar opens a 6:30 PM and dinner, presented by Tucumcari's Pow Wow Restaurant, starts serving at 7:00 PM.

Advance tickets for the SCSN OT's Night Two Party go on sale Friday night 28 Aug., in Ontario at the Credential Pick-up desk. The prices are 10 bucks in advance or 15 bucks at the door in Tucumcari. The menu is Santa Fe chicken, baked potato, a veggie and salad. You get a choice of Cherry, Peach or Apple Cobbler for desert. Mmmm...yummy.

Starting about 7:30 "Double Shot", a staple of the local club scene, will play 50s and 60s rock and pop for your dancing pleasure. During Band Breaks we may even have a few raffle items.

>>TRUTH IN NUMBERS<<

According to the SCSN Organizing Team's Chief Financial Officer and Registrar "Commander" Sherry Maples, the number of Caravan registration numbers sold to SoCal/SoNev Caravaners was 233. Now, we know about a few Caravaners who've had to cancel and we also have three groups of cars who are not leaving the Auto Club Speedway at Fontana but will join our group later in either Kingman AZ, Flagstaff AZ and Little Rock AR which cuts the Fontana number to 203.

But...at this point, we're projecting at least three Late Registrations so, the actual number of cars leaving the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana should be 206 Corvettes.

>>KENTUCKY DOWNS REFORM CHANGES<<

Plans for a Caravan Reform at Kentucky Downs race track just north of Black Jack KY have continued since it was announced in eNews No. 36. With a more clear picture of the time involved in the long stretch from Little Rock to KY Downs, the SoCal/SoNev and the AR/W-TN Caravan Organizing Teams have agreed on 6:00 PM as the time the Caravan will leave the Reform Point. A Route Book Addendum Sheet, covering more details, will be distributed in Little Rock AR with the Bale Chevrolet t-shirts.

A two-car detachment from the SoCal/SoNev Section's Organizing Team should arrive at Kentucky Downs about 5:15 PM and they will start staging cars as soon as they get there. Anyone arriving at KY Downs before the staging crew should follow the route instructions in the Addendum sheet and park in-line, pointing north. The Caravan rolls at six o'clock, sharp. Cars passing I-65 north, exit 117 at 5:55 PM or later should not stop and should continue on I-65 N to Bowling Green.

>>SPECIAL RAFFLE ANNOUNCEMENT<<

In the next issue of the eNews, we'll tell you about a special raffle to be held at Ontario on Friday night before we leave.

Going on the Caravan?
Don't go braless!

Even new cars with less than 1,000 miles have paint blemishes from normal driving. Imagine what a cross-country trip will do to YOUR paint.

The solution? A "Clear Bra".

It functions like a traditional auto bra but is far more durable and cannot be seen. It will NOT scratch your Corvette's finish like most "strap-on" auto bras. This 3M Paint and Headlight Protection lasts for the life of your Vette. SCSN Capt. Hib Halverson used a 3M Clear Bra on the 2003 National Corvette Caravan and endorses it as the best way to avoid damage to the front of your car.
