The 2009 Southern California Caravan "marketing survey" is now available on our web site at:

The SoCalCar Organizing Team hopes everyone on this mail list will take the survey. The Team will use the
data generated by the survey to help it plan the '09 event.

Your Organizing Team
"Commander" Sherry Maples was the first appointment to the 09 SoCalCar O.T. and is currently
overseeing the gathering and analysis of our marketing survey data. Maples will also act as the SoCalCar's
"CFO" once fund raising activities begin.
"Commander" Tony Megowan is directing the SoCalCar's "Route Book" project. Preparing the
Route Book is perhaps the most time consuming task the organizing committee undertakes. A copy is given to
every Caravan entry. It contains the information Caravanners need to travel across the country on the National
Corvette Caravan.
"Commander" Ron Cohen is overseeing all of the Team's relationships with hotels, car dealers and
other vendors with which we'll work with along the Caravan route. In addition, Cohen's business, Gorilla
Travel, will be available to make hotel reservations for Southern California Caravanners.
Help Wanted
The Organizing Team wants to add one more person to this "Commanders Council" which makes up the
core leadership of the team of people which will plan, organize and stage the Southern California Caravan.
To become a "Commander" requires leadership and teamwork skills. You must reside in Southern
California. Membership in a Corvette Club and past experience with club event planning and organizing are also
required. Participation in the past National Corvette Caravans is desired. Also, past experience with
setting-up road tours for large groups of cars would be helpful. Commanders must make a two and half year
commitment to the SoCalCar Organizing Team. The job will require free time, especially in the final 6-9 months
of event planning.
Anyone interested in volunteering as a Caravan Commander should email a brief resume and a short
introductory letter to Hib Halverson at captain.socalcar@charter.net
or it can be mailed to: Hib Halverson, 1469 Oahu St., West Covina, CA 91792.
More Help Wanted
SoCalCar Captain, Hib Halverson, is looking for two individuals to serve as Local Leaders of two
"feeder caravans" which will depart from the south end of the Central Coast region and the San Diego
area a day before the main Southern California Caravan departs from the L.A. area. These
"Lieutenants" must live in those areas. They will be responsible for organizing and leading
modest-sized groups of cars to the SoCalCar departure point in the L.A. area. These local leaders must be
capable of organizing a small "event" at the departure location of their feeder caravan
Those applying for these positions on the SoCalCar Organizing Team should have some prior experience
organizing club events. Also, experience in planning and organizing road tours or small caravans would be
useful.
Those interested in volunteering for such a job should contact Hib Halverson at
captain.socalcar@charter.net
Best regards,
The Southern California/Southern Nevada Caravan Organizing Team
