I am Joseph Thomas, and the Caravan Captain for the state of Michigan. I am also the National
Corvette Museum's Ambassador for the Corvette Club of Michigan, which is sponsored by Les Stanford
Chevrolet, who is the primary sponsor of the Michigan Caravan. This event will bring Corvette Caravans
from all 50 states converging on Bowling Green, Kentucky this September for the 15th Anniversary of the
National Corvette Museum, which will run from September 3-6, 2009.
On Wednesday, September 2, 2009, the Michigan Caravan will depart from the Pratt & Miller
Engineering Facility, located at 29600 W. K. Smith Drive in New Hudson, Michigan at approximately 9:30
A.M. Pratt & Miller is the driving force behind the very successful C6.R Corvette race car. After
our assembly, at Pratt & Miller, the caravan will travel south into Indiana where our destination
for the first day will be Indianapolis, Indiana.
The primary hotel for the Indianapolis stop over will be the Wingate by Wyndham Hotel, which is
located at 5797 Rockville Road, in Indianapolis, Indiana (317) 243-8310. Currently, that hotel is full
but our secondary hotel is the Micro Tel Inn, which is located at 5815 Rockville Rd., Indianapolis,
Indiana (317) 381-6594. Reservations are being held under the name, "Michigan Caravan" for the
night of September 2, 2009.
On day two of the Michigan Caravan, we will join with the Indiana Caravan where participants will
have a choice of taking a parade lap at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway or a tour of the Indianapolis
Motor Speedway Museum. The cost for the parade lap will be $10.00 per vehicle.
The cost for the tour will be $3.00 per adult, $1.00 for children, five to sixteen, and free for
children under five. After we have completed the parade lap, we will depart Indianapolis on our way to
Bowling Green, Kentucky. This portion of the caravan will experience a scenic drive coupled with
interstate travel which should place us in Bowling Green, Kentucky by late afternoon on Thursday,
September 3, 2009.
