Minnesota, North Dakota & South Dakota
Welcome to the Minnesota, North and South Dakota Caravan home page.
"All roads lead to Bowling Green," especially in 2009 for the National Corvette Museum's 15th
Anniversary Celebration on September 3-5. We invite you along to join the fun and excitement, and to be part of
one of the largest moving car events ever.
Our caravan will include enthusiasts from Minnesota, North and South Dakota. The North Dakota caravan will
be lead by Local Leader Owen Michelson from Fargo. On 31 August, the North Dakota caravan will leave Fargo and
travel interstate 94 to Minneapolis. We do not have a Local Leader for South Dakota (if you are interested,
please let me know). That night we will host a get together to introduce and meet everyone. We will meet at
Grossman Chevrolet in Burnsville for breakfast
on 1 September. Our caravan will depart about 8:00 AM. Minnesota will lead this caravan across Interstate 94,
with stops (TBD) in western Wisconsin to invite any fellow Corvette friends to join. We will meet up with the
Wisconsin caravan at
Bud Weiser Cadillac Chevrolet in Beloit, WI later
that day. The combined Caravans will travel together to Bloomington, Illinois where we will stay for the
night.
We have 120 rooms reserved until July 1, 2009 or until the rooms are taken, whichever comes first (so make
your reservations ASAP) at three hotels in Bloomington. These are the
Hawthorn Suites (309-829-8111),
Ramada Limited & Suites
(309-828-0900), and
Holiday Inn Express West (309-820-9990).
You need to call direct to get the special rates. The code for all three is NCM09 and rates are:
Hawthorn $75 for Studio, $85 for Double or Double with
Kitchen, $95 for One Bedroom or Presidential.
Ramada $59 Queen, $69 2 Queens, or
$79 for Suite.
Holiday Inn Express is $92 for Double,
King or King with wet bar. There are many other hotels at that exit (Market Street and I74/55) if you prefer
a different chain or these hotels are full.
We will depart from these three hotels Wed at 8 AM. The second day will include a lunch stop courtesy of
Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, IL, where we
will join up with the Illinois/Iowa Caravan. There will be time to tour Mike Yager's museum and/or shop as
well. Mid America Motorworks is graciously offering
a 10% discount for the caravan at this stop. Thanks Mike for your support of this Caravan and the National
Corvette Museum! The combined Caravans will depart Effingham and travel on to Bowling Green, KY, arriving
around 5-6pm Wednesday.
The hotel/motels in Bowling Green will start taking reservations in September 2008. I will try to get
blocks of rooms and I will let you know, but it is best that you book a room as soon as you can.
As we plan the caravan in more detail, I will update this site to let you know.
The 2003 caravan was a memorable experience. I hope you join our 2009 caravan and share in the
memories.
Respectfully,
Paul Christopher
Minnesota, North Dakota & South Dakota Captain
