Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota & Central Canada
Welcome to the Minnesota, North and South Dakota and Central Canada Caravan Homepage.
All roads will lead to Bowling Green for the National Corvette Museum's 20th Anniversary Celebration from August 28 to 30, 2014. It seems like a ways away, but it will
be upon us before we realize it. We invite you along to join the fun, excitement and experience to be part of one of the largest moving car events.
The registration for the 20th Anniversary event is opened. You can find a link below the map (where you linked in to get to this site) to register for the 2014 caravan.
Make sure you indicate our caravan in your registration. I will be able to contact you with further information about the caravan as we get closer to the anniversary.
The driver needs to register and include the co-pilot. The cost is $5.00 each for the caravan plus $0 for Lifetime member, $15.00 for Member and $25.00 for Non-member.
This will be paid at the time of registration. Also any seminars, dinners, road tours are extra. The registration will list every event and their cost. Also let me know
if you are interested in a flag or a static cling for you window.
I'm pleased to have Owen Michelson ( OlMichelson@cableone.net ) back as the Co-Captain in charge of the North Dakota
portion of the caravan. He was a key contributor in the success of the 2009 caravan. The Central Canada enthusiasts should consider meeting the North Dakota Caravan to
travel to Minneapolis. The North Dakota and Central Canada caravan will meet at Gateway Chevrolet in Fargo, ND
to launch the caravan to Minneapolis on Monday, 25 August 2014. As we get closer to the caravan, more information about this segment of the caravan will become
available.
I'm pleased to introduce Clair Steiner ( oldsailors@aol.com ) who has agreed to be the Local Leader for the South Dakota portion
of the caravan. The South Dakota caravan will initiate from Billion Chevrolet, Sioux Falls, SD on
Tuesday 26 August 2014. As we get closer to the caravan, more information about this segment of the caravan will become available.
The Minnesota, North Dakota, Central Canada and whoever else that may join our caravan will meet at
Village Chevrolet in Wayzata, MN on 26 August 2014 for a continental breakfast. As we get closer to the caravan,
more information about this segment of the caravan will become available.
We have worked up two preliminary routes for the 2014 Minnesota, Dakotas and Central Canada caravan. Our previous caravans have gone across Wisconsin and thru Illinois,
so this is a new route. We will drive these routes on our way to the 19th Anniversary in September 2013 and back to Minnesota. We will try out the new routes to see which
one is the best for the caravan. Let me know if you have driven a similar route and have areas of interest that would make this caravan more interesting and fun.
The North Dakota and Central Canada caravans will meet in Minneapolis on the 25th of August (Monday) and along with the Minnesota group will leave Tuesday morning the
26th. Preliminary plans have the South Dakota caravan meeting the main caravan in Albert Lea, MN (I90/I35) on the 26th. Our plan is to arrive at the NCM on Wednesday the
27th at about 5:00 PM. We will plan rest stops and secure hotels along the route and help with Hotel rooms in Bowling Green.
First day:
Our caravan would leave Minneapolis at 8:00 a.m. on I35 South to Clear Lake, then Highway 27/I380 through Waterloo, Rapid City and Iowa City, IA. We will contact
Chevrolet Dealers along the way for stops and refreshments. Our plan is to continue south to Highway 61 and stay the night in northern Missouri between Hannibal and
O'Fallon.
Second Day:
We will leave in the morning through St. Louis for a stop in Effingham IL. (Mid America) then to Bowling Green; or drive through St. Louis directly to Bowling Green.
If you would like to volunteer with the Caravan or be a sponsor of the Minnesota/Dakotas and Central Canada Caravan, please let us know. If you have any comments or
questions please contact me.
Respectfully,
Paul Christopher
2014 MN/Dakotas and Central Canada
