Southeast Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi & Alabama

Hello everyone,

As the saying goes "All Roads Lead to Bowling Green!" especially for September 3rd - 5th, 2009 as that is the 15th Anniversary of the Grand Opening of OUR Corvette Museum!

We'll be leaving from Beaumont, Texas on Monday, August 31st, from the MCM Eleganté Hotel, located at Interstate 10 East and Washington Boulevard at approximately 8:00 A.M., traveling along Interstate 10 East, making stops to pick up people and maybe have a little fun along the way. We will make a stop at Lafayette, at exit 100 (Ambassador Caffery Parkway) to pick up participants there and refuel. There is a large parking lot on the Northeast Side of the Freeway, that had been a Sam's Club in the past. We will then travel on to Baton Rouge, where I believe that All-Star Chevrolet and the Baton Rouge Corvette Club have plans for us. Michael Leeds is still firming up those plans with the Club at this time (7/10/2009). We'll change over to Interstate 12 East until we reach Interstate 59 North outside of Pearl River, Mississippi. From there we'll stop for the night in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where Ryan Chevrolet & the Hattiesburg Corvette Club will host a cookout or something special for us at the Microtel, which is giving the caravan a discounted rate. The Microtel is located at Interstate 59 and Hardy St./Highway 98 West. The Microtel also has security and there are also 2 restaurants adjacent to the hotel, the Olive Garden and Logan's Roadhouse. We are still trying to work on some other activities along the way here. After our overnight we'll continue along Interstate 59 North to Birmingham, Alabama, with a stop in Tuscaloosa to pick up participants at the McFarland Mall, this is just off of Interstate 20 at the McFarland exit, about 1/3rd of a mile from the Interstate. O.J. Webster is working on something special for us to do in Birmingham on Tuesday. Then we'll overnight in Pell City, Alabama, where we have secured rooms at 2 hotels, the Hampton Inn and the Holiday Inn Express. From Pell City we will split the Caravan in 2 on Wednesday morning. We have secured the Talladega Super Speedway for laps, lunch, and museum tours. We are working on the pricing for those who wish to participate in this event at this moment (7/10/2009). For those who wish to go directly to Bowling Green, Dorothy Crocker will lead Group A directly to Bowling Green on Wednesday morning, departing from the Holiday Inn Express Parking Lot at approximately 8:00 A.M. Michael Leeds will lead Group B to Talladega Super Speedway!

Group A will stop for fuel around Huntsville, Alabama, then proceed on up Interstate 65 on into Bowling Green on Wednesday afternoon.

Group B will do the Track event, then overnight near Huntsville, Alabama, to leave early on Thursday morning to arrive in Bowling Green on Thursday morning.

It will take a lot of planning and work to pull this off, if you would like to help please feel free to contact us. We would love to have activities all along our route. We need help contacting local Corvette clubs, the dealerships, etc., along the way. You can reach Michael Leeds at laorange@bellsouth.net - you can reach Dorothy Crocker at dorothy@dorothycrocker.com.

We hope to be hearing from a lot of you with help in planning OUR caravan in 2009!

Respectfully,

Michael Leeds
