Wisconsin & Western Upper Peninsula of Michigan

The Wisconsin/UP group leaders are Ivan Schrodt, as Wisconsin Captain, with support from Ed Foy and Fred Severt. We would like to have coordinators for all the WI/UP Corvette clubs and have most of them in place. If your club does not have a coordinator yet, you may select one and give me a call or email so they are added to my contact list for this event. I have sent DVDs on the Caravan and Museum expansion to the clubs that I have a contact for and I hope everyone enjoys them as much as I have

Our route will start in Kewaunee, WI, located on beautiful Lake Michigan, due east of Green Bay, Tuesday morning, 8 AM, September 1, 2009 at Jorns Chevrolet Pontiac. Jorns will be providing coffee and rolls. We will wind our way south along Lake Michigan, connecting with I43 at about Manitowoc, WI. There will be a lunch stop courtesy of EVS Chevrolet in Random Lake, WI. We will travel from EVS to Beloit, WI primarily on I43. Our second stop will be at Bud Weiser Cadillac Chevrolet in Beloit, WI where we will join up with the Minnesota, North and South Dakota Caravan. Our thanks to these three great Chevrolet dealerships for the support they are providing for the Caravan and National Corvette Museum! The combined Caravans will travel south on I 39 and US 51 to Bloomington, IL where we will rest for the night.

With the WI/UP Caravan starting on the east side of WI and cutting southwest, and the MN/SD/ND Caravan coming down the west side of WI, you can register for the WI Caravan and join up with either caravan as you please. The MN/SD/ND stops are TBD. You do not have to go to a "starting point" but can join up with either caravan at one of their scheduled stops.

We have 120 rooms reserved until July 1, 2009 or until the rooms are taken, whichever comes first (so make your reservations ASAP) at three hotels in Bloomington. These are the Hawthorn Suites (309-829-8111), Ramada Limited & Suites (309-828-0900), and Holiday Inn Express West (309-820-9990, and ask for Erin Schuette if the desk clerk says they are not making reservations yet). You need to call direct to get the special rates. The code for all three is NCM09 and rates are:

Hawthorn $75 for Studio, $85 for Double or Double with Kitchen, $95 for One Bedroom or Presidential. Ramada $59 Queen, $69 2 Queens, or $79 for Suite. Holiday Inn Express is $92 for Double, King or King with wet bar. There are many other hotels at that exit (Market Street and I74/55) if you prefer a different chain or these hotels are full.

We will depart from these three hotels Wed at 8 AM. The second day will include a lunch stop courtesy of Mid America Motorworks in Effingham, IL where we will join up with the Illinois/Iowa Caravan. There will be time to tour Mike Yager's museum and/or shop as well. Mid America Motorworks is graciously offering a 10% discount for the Caravan at this stop. Thanks Mike for your support of this Caravan and the National Corvette Museum! The combined Caravans will depart Effingham and travel on to Bowling Green, KY, arriving around 5-6pm Wednesday.

We have reserved rooms at a hotel in Bowling Green ($50/night) and are working to reserve rooms at a second hotel as well. Please email or call me for that hotel information.

Once you have registered, please email or call me for the code to reserve a room at either of these hotels.

This is going to be a great caravan and 15th Anniversary for the National Corvette Museum with the expansion that will be just completed and we encourage all Corvette clubs and owners in WI/UP to join in and create some wonderful memories.

Ivan Schrodt
Wisconsin/UP Captain
